“Tongues like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and rested on each one of them.”

(Acts 2:3) What kind of fire was lit in the hearts of men on the day of Pentecost?

The fire of love for Jesus!

Man was created to burn—to burn with the fire of love for his Creator.

That fire was extinguished on the day of the fall, and the terrible and destructive fire of lust took possession of the human heart instead.

That fire was extinguished on Calvary—but what agony it cost Jesus to do so!

The fire that was lit on the day of Pentecost is lit in your heart and mine when we are born again and begins to burn with full and powerful flame through the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

That fire fuses you and Jesus in a deep and intimate love relationship with each other and makes you a lover of Jesus who worships and praises Him in new tongues and walks in His footsteps daily. The Holy Spirit makes you a loving worshiper and follower of Jesus Christ and to become like Him becomes your greatest desire.

To love Jesus is to love His word and it becomes natural for you to start each day with an open Bible: “How I love your Law! It is my meditation all the day,” the psalmist exclaims.

Every word in the Bible is a word of Jesus, inspired and filled with the Holy Spirit and when the same Spirit has filled you, the Bible becomes a living and open book that speaks directly to you.

The Jesus fire unites you with all other Jesus lovers and you cannot do without the regular fellowship in your congregation where you can worship the Lord together with your fellow believers and listen to Spirit-inspired preaching and teaching.

You also burn with the desire to share what Jesus has done in your life with those who do not know Him and take every opportunity to witness about Him to your fellow human beings.

Make sure that the fire in your heart never goes out – it is the most beautiful and precious thing you have!
