"He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet."

(1 Corinthians 15:25)

What happens when we surrender unconditionally to the Lord Jesus and give up our lives for His sake?

Then something begins that can best be called a divine invasion.

The divine invasion of our entire being, spirit, soul and body by the Holy Spirit!

This is how the absolute and all-encompassing dominion of Jesus Christ is established in us.

It means that all other spirit influences in our lives are completely eradicated so that the Spirit of Jesus Christ permeates, characterizes and directs everything we are and do.

The Bible calls this to "walk in the Spirit."

If we do, says Paul, "the flesh" has no chance.

It has no opportunity to shape and direct us.

"The flesh" is all the lusts, desires, mindsets and habits of the old, fallen life.

What is the driving force behind all this?

A spirit!

Which spirit?

Or rather: whose spirit?

The spirit of him who is the source of all sin and all evil desires.

All sin is "the works of the devil" and is inspired by his spirit.

It was that spirit, that driving force, "the law of sin and death" that received its death sentence and was destroyed on the cross.

When we are born again, the law of life of Jesus Christ, "the law of the Spirit of life", is installed in our hearts and through the divine invasion it is established as the dominant driving force in our entire being (Rom.8:2-4).

When that has happened, we live as victors over all the temptations, desires and allurements of this world just as the Great Conqueror Jesus did.

Surrender unconditionally to the Lord Jesus and let the divine invasion be completed in you – then your old "flesh" will have no chance anymore!
